Escaping from a brother who had just ascended the throne, Yoshitsune, along with his servant, comes across a house in the middle of a desolate mountain. Oddly enough, only a young woman lives there, who seems to possess a very dark and ominous past.

This long journey of more than a thousand years focuses on our main protagonist Kurou. It can be somewhat confusing at the beginning, but once you understand the plot this story can be quite entertaining.

The main thrust of the story goes like this: Kurou meets a beautiful woman by the name of Kuromitsu, and begins a relationship which transcends life and memory. Kurozuka tells the tale of a journey undertaken by immortals, and those who chase after immortality.

The majority of this story takes place many centuries in the future, after Kurou has been separated from Kuromitsu. Having lost almost all of his memories, Kurou seeks to understand why he cannot die, to rediscover his identity, and to find the woman that haunts his dreams

Okazaki Takashi – Afro Samurai(Licensed)

Set in a “futuristic, yet feudal Japan,” and stars a samurai named Afro for his hair. The story follows Afro as he tries to avenge his father’s murder. In the world of Afro Samurai, it is said that the one who becomes “Number One”, will rule the world, wielding powers akin to a god. Someone becomes Number One by killing the previous Number One and taking his ceremonial headband. However, the only rule in this world is that only the “Number Two” (also designated by a sacred headband) is allowed to fight the “Number One.” The downside of this is that anyone (and typically everyone) can challenge and try to kill the Number Two, to gain the right to move forward and challenge Number One. Afro Samurai’s father was the old Number One, until he was challenged by a gunman, “Justice” (who was then Number Two), who fought him in a duel to become the new Number One. At the time the gunman challenged his father, Afro had only been a child. The gunman severed his father’s head right in front of the young Afro. Now an adult, Afro Samurai is the current Number Two and a master swordsman; he travels the road seeking revenge on Justice, the current Number One. Lengthy flashbacks interspersed throughout the story detail how Afro rose from frightened boy fleeing the death of his father, to master swordsman, and eventually to become the current “Number Two”, while the story in the present deals with the adult Afro making his way to the mountain top keep of the “Number One” to duel Justice, while at the same time the mysterious cult known as the “Empty Seven Clan” sends various agents to kill Afro and take his Number Two headband

Awesome by John21 on February 11th, 2010, 8:10pm Good Comment? thumbs up

This is an awesome manga. Each chapter was so damn funny, there is a decent plot and the whole setup is so interesting and funny. I don’t hate any of the characters and the protagonist here is totally awesome and complements Beezlebub really well. The way he takes care of the baby is so damn funny. Hez just badass. There is some great romance going on as well albeit very little but still its there. Great comedy. Good art. Fantastic characters.Rating: 9.4 / 10.0

Now this is a manga worthy to be praised! It’s hilarious! I love baby Beezle and he’s just so freaking adorable when he admires Oga (Ogre lmfao) Hilda is so cute! She still thinks he’s trash but slowly but surely, he’s proving her wrong! This is definitely the manga you’re looking for if you’re searching for humor. The story is progressing slowly though… I can’t wait to read more! I have such high expectations biggrin !Rating: 10 / 10.0

Lol the blurb really doesn’t reveal how AWESOME this manga is. At first, I was hesitant but due to the positive reviews here i checked it out and the rest is history.
This manga is soooo funny, there was always something funny in every chapter. I really recommend it to those who like shounen because this manga is both the cake and the icing.Rating: 10 / 10.0

Absolutely Hilarious! by trilton56 on December 6th, 2009, 1:46am Good Comment? thumbs up

Really, this manga is so out there yet so funny. While it doesn’t have much of a continuing plot it is absolutely hilarious at every turn. Really, between the totally even Oga and his insanely scary faces and Hilda, who is pretty much just as evil except to the baby. The side kick character has to be my favorite though, he seems like a whiney guy at first but ends up replacing his weakness with pure genius, Honestly if you don’t give this manga a try you’re missing out. Just don’t get annoyed with the lack of a main plot.

So funny! by gomting on December 4th, 2009, 3:49am Good Comment? thumbs up

I thought the premise sounded a bit too weird/corny. So, I didn’t want to read it at first. But wouldn’t you know it… the weird ones always turn out to be the best. This manga is none stop action + comedy. I can kind of see what the plot will be although there’s been very little of it so far. Then again, who really cares as long as they can keep up this level of entertainment? As other poster said, I love the no whiny character part. Simply a badass manga.Rating: 10 / 10.0

Finally!!! by kooling123 on November 4th, 2009, 5:07am Good Comment? thumbs up

No one is ever going to say Beelzebub is the most original manga ever; it is after all a fighting shounen manga. However what Beelzebub does is strip out all the useless, irritating things that come up in shounen mangas. Forget the whiny girls, the talk about friendship and how it’s the most important thing in the world. Forget a whiny irritating protagonist and his whiny friends (yes I’m looking at you Rave Master and Naruto). Oga is f***kin kickass, his friend while weak is not annoying and Hilda is actually kind of entertaining. The baby, the physically ‘weakest’ member of the bunch, is effin awesome.Currently the manga is at chapter 35 so it’s just beginning. The development of the plot should be the mangaka’s next step and also more character development. I hope this manga keeps doing well and doesn’t fall into the common thing of giving Oga a new power everytime he faces a new opponent.

I’m not giving up! I’m sure of it!! BEELZEBUB has got a PLOT. Even if after 30 chapters you still have not idea/are unsure what it is, there surely has to be a plot.
You just have to guess it, since there are really so many options and possibilities for this manga to go along with. What of course makes Beelzebub totally unpredictable.
It really wants you to think about the ending, about the middle, and probably about the beginning, too.But you actually read it for the humor. It’s so funny, but has a good art (doesn’t necessarily go together) and really great characters. By the way, our main “hero” isn’t greedy for money or such stuff. He’s just a bit evil.
But that’s what’s so great about him. He’s just “a bit” evil.

not that good by oraclegirl on October 24th, 2009, 12:30am Good Comment? thumbs up

At first i thought this one is good: great plot, likeable charackters… but after ch. 30 I realised that the story isn´t that great actually it´s not even going anywhere and the charackters aren´t that likeable … Oga kinda reminds me of the main charackter in “yankee-kun to megane-chan”. But I will continue reading “Beelzebub” because
I hope the stoy will develope.Rating: 10 / 10.0

This manga feels like a breath of fresh air surounded by crap.
Funny clever and origional. Only question i have is that this baby is to be raised to kill humanity… aaaaand they want a high school delinquent teach him? Why not some serial killer, cant be hard for the son of the devil to find one. I dunno seems like a teenager with an attitude is a poor choice. Other then that fun manga and defiently worth a read.

I’m not too awesome for this world by Qpax on August 30th, 2009, 7:32am Good Comment? thumbs up

I don’t know why but recently seeing to fun mangas coming makes me feel really happy just like this series. I really love the storyline that makes you giggle in every chapter and the charachter designs looks so smooth. I love how author blend baby charachter with the storyline and the main charachter of course looks so badass. But even though he seems to be yankee he cares people around him when something goes wrong. I’m really enjoying reading this manga around these days and cant wait to see new chapters in every week.
edit: also latest chapters turns out really hilarious. you can only see that kind of plot twist in one piece lol.Rating: 10 / 10.0

Awesomely funny, wickedly hilarious, and filled with tons of fighting scenes, out should definitely not miss this manga. It was able to produce a laugh (or atleast a giggle) in every single chapter. In the first 10, I was laughing so hard that my brother came into my room and asked me if I was high.I was high.
High on this manga.

Haven’t read something this good in a while by hanabira on July 8th, 2009, 1:34pm Good Comment? thumbs up

I find that Beelzebub isn’t terribly original – many times while reading I am reminded of things I’ve already seen in other manga, especially when it comes to character design. Yet Beelzebub somehow manages to put all that together surprisingly well. The story is interesting enough to make me want to keep reading (although part of that has to do with the mangaka always ending chapters on cliffhangers, damn that guy). The characters are likeable enough at chapter 19, although none really stand out enough for me to have a favorite. I’m expecting more character development to come in as the story progresses. The humor is actually funny, which is a definite plus in my book. The baby gives the story a cute factor. All in all, Beelzebub isn’t a bad manga. At least not for shonen fans. Apparently it’s doing pretty well in Japan too. But although I can tell it’s good and I like it, I am somehow not getting that ‘uwaaaah this is awesome *_*’ feeling I get when I read my favorite shonen manga. So I am giving this 7/10… for now. I’m still waiting to be be surprised.

Best shounen 2009 hands down by XileDragon on June 23rd, 2009, 5:00am Good Comment? thumbs up

This manga is ridiculous, I mean, from the description, it’s already ridiculous. The author has no interest in anything “normal”. So instead, in Beelzebub you will find an unusually fast-paced manga with weirdly-dressed characters, ridiculous expressions, retarded story setting, and unorthodox story telling. But it’s ridiculously good.Rating: 10 / 10.0

beelzebub is very interesting and seems full of potential but the author seems to be rushing to much into the story line. The author is going to run out of material at this rate to continue the story line. If he goes at this rate then the manga will end before chapter 50.Rating: 8 / 10.0

lost its drive too fast by halberdian on April 21st, 2009, 7:12pm Good Comment? thumbs up

Once I begin reading this series, it’s so hilarious.
But after 6 chapters, the manga has lost its originality, turns into just another comedy manga. though I still download to the 9th chapter -wishing for the originality to come back-, I don’t recommend this series now for you to download.

Has a great potential… by krav3n on April 19th, 2009, 4:38am Good Comment? thumbs up

This one has a great potential if it can make things more interesting and make fights more amazing + random stuffs then it will really be a great manga… Hope Japanese readers would like it and hope it will be popular enough so that it will not be cancelled and the mangaka will have time to make it more interesting…

Nice starts, but starting to lose it’s momentum by Lagito on April 18th, 2009, 9:35pm Good Comment? thumbs up

Started quite interesting, but lately has been losing the appealing sides, and is probably turning into a battle shounen manga yu yu hakusho-like, not that I dislike yyh, but I had other hopes for this seriesRating: 6 / 10.0

On A Roll by noisette on March 29th, 2009, 6:04pm Good Comment? thumbs up

Shounen gag manga is not even close to being my thing, but I like demons, delinquents with hearts of gold, and series that win awards so I thought I’d give it a shot. And you know what? This series is *hilarious*. Not in any special way, and the art isn’t that hot, but there’s just something about the toughest guy at school playing nanny to Satan’s baby that makes for one great…gag. I’m going to stick with this one, it can only get better.Rating: 8 / 10.0

Japanese Comedy by Tyranasaurus on March 28th, 2009, 5:58pm Good Comment? thumbs up

Okay, one thing I’ve noticed in manga is that the Japanese have a very different idea of comedy than Americans, so when reading this manga that is something to stay aware of. It’s a gag manga, it’s not quite Bobobo-ish, but it really reminds me of Gintama. Another thing is for some of the chapters, the scanlators were a little… incompetent.Overall, this is something you would read when it’s late night or your hammered because your trying to get over being dumped and anything would seem funny. So, it’s quality really depends on the person.Rating: 7 / 10.0

Not that funny… by abczyx666 on March 16th, 2009, 8:38pm Good Comment? thumbs up

I don’t know why but I just never laughed once in the first 4 chapters of Beezlebub. Maybe it’s my sense of humour or maybe I didn’t quite get the jokes but normally some of the most hilarious mangas like Yotsuba&! or Chii’s Sweet Home would get me crack up laughing in no time when I’m feeling a bit down.Other than that the plot is okay, it should be interesting to see how he raises the demon king child. But overall it isn’t a type of manga that is going to make me say I can’t wait to read more.Rating: 5 / 10.0

I really like beelzebub! It sort of reminds me of Chibi Devil!because both of the main characters suddenly have to raise a devil child. Anyways, I look forward to reading more of Beelzebub.

Great! by emperor26 on February 24th, 2009, 10:07am Good Comment? thumbs up

Got a chance to read this, and looks great so far, from the characters to the storyline itself. On one hand, I hope this series performs well as it progress, but on the other hand, it could also be a handful of many past series from WSJ that gets axed without even getting a fair chance to expand on the plot.Still, Beelzebub looks like a fun manga to read.Rating: 9 / 10.0
